The 90-square-meter flat is situated on the Mediterranean coast, not too far from Alicante. This marked our inaugural venture in Spain. Initially, we encountered some challenges initiating communication with suppliers and local labourers. Accustomed to operating primarily in English and Russian, tackling Spanish posed a genuine test! Nevertheless, we managed and are immensely pleased with the outcome — we now command fluency in all construction, architectural, and design terminology in Spanish.

The apartment had not undergone any renovation; all the walls remained untouched — the designer solely focused on the decor. She began by repainting the walls and doors, but, as is often the case, one thing led to another: new curtains, wallpaper, and furniture emerged — many of which were crafted based on Nadezhda Chak’s designs. Initially cautious of the changes, the client enthusiastically embraced the process. Consequently, the interior underwent a remarkable transformation, reaffirming the significant influence of decor.

The predominant colour scheme revolves around green, complemented by touches of pink. This combination truly defines the interior. However, in reality, white features prominently throughout the space. The crisp white backdrop effectively enhances the vibrancy of the colours, while the Spanish sun adds its own magic. Green was also selected for the bedroom, albeit in a tranquil, visually pleasing natural hue. The same pattern is subtly presented in various shades on both the curtains and wallpaper, creating a harmonious ambiance.

Nadezhda Chak embraced the tropical decorative theme with unwavering commitment. Wallpaper adorned with oversized leaves graces the walls, complemented by curtains featuring the same motif on the windows. A chandelier crafted to resemble bamboo (though actually made of brass), a zebra skin, a flamingo statuette, and a feathered floor lamp collectively transform the apartment into a lush jungle-like retreat, perfect for seaside relaxation. Importantly, the project’s author maintained a keen sense of proportion throughout.
Out of all the rooms, only the bathrooms have undergone a complete refurbishment.
